During the night of September 20th, from 2:00 to 3:30 AM, I had a special conversation with Guillliano on ‘De Nacht van Caribisch Netwerk’
We delved into my journey as a heritage professional and the strength of my multiple identities. We discussed the exhibition ‘Shadows over the Atlantic Ocean’, the bold curatorial choices that were made, and the spiritual cleansing held with the Indigenous communities Kaliña and Lokono.
The conversation also touched on mental health, oral history, and the misconceptions surrounding resistance heroine Sablika—about whom I finally broke my silence after five years.
We even explored spirituality and mermaids in this deep conversation, where the many layers of heritage and identity were further unraveled.
